Surface hardening of carbide tools based on tungsten carbide by concentrated energy flows

The article presents the results of surface hardening tungsten­carbide hard alloys carried out using concentrated energy flows. VK6­OM alloy with a thickness 20 μm is applied to VK10KS by method electric spark treatment. In this case, hardened layer consisting W 2 C obtained. hardness resulting 22,000 MPa and friction coefficient 0.23 (compared original 0.41); strong but insufficiently wear­resistant base preserved. work, on 40 phase composition TiC was obtained single­component electro­explosive alloying titanium. nanohardness 25,000 0.14. A 3 – 4 TiB , TiC, multicomponent titanium boron. 27,500 0.10. Applying technique separate cathodes, an ion­plasma TiN + ZrN coating (50 % Ti 50 Zr) alloy. Nitrogen used as reaction gas. in way 38,500 0.07. Ion­plasma has good adhesion substrate. use proposed methods makes it possible choose one methods, based operating conditions carbide tool, extend its operational life, well save scarce materials (tungsten cobalt).
